HGL PRODUCTIONS- Camera

The camera we used to film the thriller and some vlogs was on a Canon d1100. We used this as the quality of the camera was high and resulting in a crisp clear quality of film. Using a professional camera instead of an iPhone etc, gave a more professional look to a film.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Costume

This is the costume that we all decided on and ordered it off of amazon. We wanted to get a long white Victorian dress as it was the style and era we wanted to focus on. The high neck and ruffled fitted sleeves represent the Victorian era the most. We wanted to film our thriller over the half term but was unable to as the dress came too late, therefore we will probably film the following weekend.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Characters feature

I have taken photos of my young sister to show what will be a big focus in our thriller film. (The eyes are important because we want to include many shots of them)

HGL PRODUCTIONS- FINAL theatrical poster

HGL PRODUCTIONS- FINAL Billboard Poster

This is the finished billboard poster for our thriller. A large and bold title of 'Exitus' is outstanding and brings most attention the quickest, followed by the names and the release date of 'coming soon.' The background is relatable to our thriller as the rain on the window with a dark sky suggests sadness and death. We will try to aim this idea through the beginning of the film when we film outside the window of the train, hopefully the weather will be dull or foggy.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- What to take on filming days

As a team, together we made a list on what we need to take on the day of filming to make sure we don't leave anything behind. This includes a camera to film and a tripod for taking still and controlled filming, makeup so that we can touch up on it if fades or comes off, water spray if we want to give a wet hair effect on the character and a back-comb comb for touching up on backcombing the hair to look messier if it starts to fall. Food&drink and memory cards on the side if we need them, phones for taking pictures and videos of 'behind the scenes' of filming (posts for the blog), maybe props if we choose to use them such as a baseball bat or a large log. Lastly, chalk to mark spots for filming of where we left off but also to draw on walls, trees etc. for effect.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Settings and Locations

Settings and Locations from Honor Page

In conclusion, the locations we eventually decided to film at were Hylands Park and Chelmsford Train Station. The reason we came to this choice was that we realised Hylands Park also has a forest we could film in instead of going to Poles Wood, therefore this means we could film these scenes in one day. Also, we chose the small cottage to film at as it linked well and gave a good effect to our film. We are also going to film at Chelmsford Station (maybe Ingatestone Station) as they are both the closest to us apart from Brentwood and Shenfield Station (can't film there due to railroad works). By filming at a train station, this gives our film more interest and we will film early so that there isn't many people around.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Makeup ideas

Makeup ideas from Honor Page

By exploring through YouTube, i have discovered and researched different makeup tutorials that would be ideal for our thriller. Firstly, i found two makeup ideas from the American TV show 'American Horror Story.' I thought this would be inspiration for our work as their makeup for the show is unique and relates well to horror. Due to our thriller being a horror/thriller, this would link well to our idea as horror is a main feature that we want to exaggerate in our thriller opening. Another idea I came up with was 'concealed faces,' this area would work well for our project as concealment to the face comes across as uncomfortable to the audience as people are used to recognising faces so therefore taking this away it disturbs the audience. We will not use this idea as it is too complicated to recreate for the film. Lastly, 'open wounds' would be useful for our thriller as it adds effect to the film, the only problem would be making it look realistic enough for the film.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Analysis of thriller poster

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Exitus Teaser Poster old

Exitus Teaser Poster

This is our final poster for our thriller 'Exitus'. In this poster, the background links well with the opening of our thriller as it is set in the forest. As the picture is in black and white, this adds to the effect of a horror/thriller film as there no colours, relating to the film being empty and vulnerable. The stars name is in bold letters at the top of the poster as it stands out to the audience who the main star is. Near the bottom of the poster is the main title of the film 'Exitus', the title is the boldest and largest text on the poster, bringing most attention to the title as it stands out the most. Underneath, there is '2018' in the smallest size in the poster as this is the least important and doesn't need to bring much attention. Due to the title of the film being the most outstanding and brings most attention, the audience would see the title and then are brought down to finding out when the film is released (this is why the date is underneath) and then are brought to attention to the top of who's the main star.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Theatrical poster -old

This is our theatrical poster to let the audience know what the film may be about. It doesn't give away a lot but gives away enough.  The doll is linked with many other thriller films so it gives off a creepy feeling as the eyes are solid black which is unusual.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Feedback Photo

This is our first feedback where we all spoke and discussed about what we had to change. Our feedback was actually good, but we got told we had to add more pictures in our posts. This was including the risk assessment post and codes and conventions post, we have now done this to improve our blog and make it the best we can.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Analysis of thriller poster

This is a poster that I have analysed for a thriller movie. This was so our group can see what thriller movies contain as a whole on how they reached out to the audiences attention.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Twitter Poll

To understand our audience more, we introduced a Twitter poll to give the audience a chance to have control and feel involved in the making of our thriller. We directly asked our audience to chose what title they preferred that best fit our thriller including Exitus, Insanis and Captum.
As evident from the results it is clear that Exitus was the most popular chosen title. We believe this as it has connotations of a thriller through the title as the wording ends in 'us'.The pronunciation and repetition of the 's' word uses sibilance and partners with the thriller connotations of a dark tone and danger, alongside the conventions.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Script for prelim draft

We have decided to document and discuss the problems faced when filming our prelim through a podcast format, this is our draft for what we will be discussing towards the 180 degree angle and it being broken. What it is and what we did the change this so it would not occur again in our final prelim.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Risk assessment

This is a prezi explaining some of the risks that could come up whilst filming for our thriller film.
We need to consider all the possible risks that could come up, as if we dont we would be in a bad situation and not know what to do. This way we have planned what could come up and how we would reduce any risks in the future.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- First ideas for storyboard

These are some of our first ideas for the storyboard of the film. At the moment, the only ideas we have is that we open the film with a view of a landscape through a train window as its moving, followed by the title sequence appearing subtly on screen, also the view will hopefully be dull, rainy or really foggy and white. This will then slowly cut to a girl seen in a forest who is lost and doesn't understand where she is but also in possession of  'someone'. This will then rapidly cut to another scene which will be a flashback of the girl in a mental home. The audience still won't know what is going on or why she was in these two places. There will be many cuts going backwards and forwards from the forest to the mental home to show the confusion of the girl and why she is now in this forest.

At the moment, these are rough ideas of the Thriller film and we will soon adapt on these ideas to improve the Thriller film to make it look good and to make more sense.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Final prelim

This was our final prelim video as because last time we broke the 180 degree rule so it needed to be re done and re filmed. It wasn't a hard process as we done it all within a day, but we managed to fix the problem which was the main focus.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Props&costumes mindmap

These are some ideas we came up with that could be included into the thriller film based on the genre we are focusing on; horror/psychological thriller.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Questionnaire on thrillers

These are some questions that I asked people to fill out, so we can use the answers as guidelines for our thriller. The answers will be made into a graph to see the results.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Psychological thriller mood board x3

Psychological Thriller Mood Board

This mood board focuses on Psychological Thrillers. I chose images that were scenes in Psychological thriller films, some films included are Cube, Kill List, Das Experiment and Gone Girl. Some of the costumes and props were inspiration towards our Thriller, such as the black dripping down the face, blood stained dress, wet look hair and small weapons. By making mood boards, this helped our group focus on small details that would overall make the Thriller successful.

Year 13 talk notes.
On the 5th of January 2017 we had a talk with year 13's media class. This was where they gave us advice and tips from their own experienced.

HGL PRODUCTIONS- Prelim Draft

This was our first draft of our prelim, the thing we found that we struggled with was match on action. Making sure the door used finish in the next shot where it opened, we altered this by re-filming and will be noted for future filming. Also, this was our first go at doing the prelim and we broke the 180 degree rule. We can see this clearly as we start from the right side and then start filming from the left afterwards.
